Supporting IDignity means that you are helping people solve a problem that they cannot easily solve alone.

With the support of volunteers and sponsors, 213 people were served at IDignity Orlando’s May Identification Clinic.

This mother refused to be manipulated and abused. Instead, she secured freedom for herself and her children – starting with securing their proper identification.

“Without identification, citizens cannot apply for a job, get an education from a higher learning institution or trade school, receive benefits, cash checks, secure housing, open a bank account, and the list goes on.”

“For many, the one thing that stands in the way of getting back on track in their life is not having an ID, or a Social Security card, or a birth certificate.”

With the support of volunteers and sponsors, 240 people were served at IDignity Orlando’s February Identification Clinic.

Myron and Linda’s story says a lot about what it means to make a difference. It shows how helping others does not mean you have to change the world, but simply lend a hand to someone who needs it.

This service is always held near Dec. 21, the longest night of the year, in recognition of the difficulties that nighttime causes for those who have no home.

Before Maria could even think about starting to look for a new job, she realized her ID had expired. “Even if I could get a job interview, they wouldn’t hire me without that little card,” Maria thought to herself.

As she considered what this meant, a chill overcame her. Maria would have to go to the D ­- M – V!

IDignity’s mission is what inspires this Orlando couple to set the alarm for 5 a.m. and spend hours on their feet, month after month. That’s amazing in itself, but especially for this husband-wife team.

Today, we commemorated the lives of those in our community who passed away in 2016 after having experienced homelessness. This service was a time for family, friends, advocates, community leaders and service providers to come together and show respect to the valued lives of these most vulnerable citizens.

Trina Anderson’s life was going well. She had a job, a car, and a home. But, her life took an unexpected turn for the worse when her Drivers License expired and her car broke down.
